In April 2018, with Baltic Contemporary Arts, England, I organised Setting the Table: a congregation that occurred within the framework of an exhibition-in-the making interrogating forms of artist-organisation and their curatorial impulses. Alongside art works, object, tokens and things almost 30 people gathered: artists with expanded practices that include curating, curators and exhibition-makers, and directors of art institutions, alongside academics and museum professionals. Over 72 hours they adapted, prepared and practiced an adaptation of Aristophanes’ satire Peace, which incorporated the exhibited objects. This was subsequently presented live with an audience. The video I will show and discuss is a document of the live performance of PEACE (After Aristophanes).
